Beaumont Trophy Tuesday 15th May 2018

May 17, 2018

St Audry’s Seniors’ hosted their first round Beaumont Trophy match against Rookery Park on Tuesday 15th May. Owing to a change in the rules concerning handicap criteria, many of last year’s squad which performed amazingly well to reach the semi-final stage were no longer eligible. The new look team consisted of Clive (Cuggy) Andrews, Colin Roper, Vinnie Howlett, John Chapman, Mike Hammond, Mel Williams, Jim Walker, Tony Rhodes & Pete Dell & they were admirably led by non-playing captain, Aly Andrews.

The weather was dry but quite blowy. The course was looking magnificent. Malcolm English was kind enough to prepare the score cards & to officially announce the players’ names prior to them driving off the first tee. There was good support for St Audry’s dotted around the course.

All four 4-ball better-ball matches played the full 18 holes (Hambro scoring) & the final result was a terrific aggregate win for St Audry’s by 8 holes. Each match was highly competitive but played in a very friendly spirit. Rookery Park were very magnanimous in defeat & wished

St Audry’s luck in the next round which will be another home fixture against Hintelsham during the week commencing 11th June with the date to be confirmed in the near future.

May The Fourth Was Certainly With Him

May 16, 2018

The Club held one of its regular Friday Texas Scrambles on Friday 4th May. Mark Sheppard, using his 5 wood, achieved a magnificent hole in one on the par 3 202 yard 8th hole. This feat has never before been achieved at this hole in a competition. Mark will be reminded daily of “that” shot as he sees the hole every time that he comes out of his front door which is literally a stone’s throw from his house. It was the perfect start to a magical long weekend for Mark & his wife Tina who celebrated their daughter’s wedding just a few days later.

Mark Sheppard being congratulated by Club Secretary/Manager Peter King

LADY CAPTAIN’S DAY 2017

October 6, 2017

I was chuffed to bits with the turn out for my Lady Captains Day on Wednesday. We had 25 ladies out on the field and 29 for lunch. The weather was fine although a little chilly, but never mind, the ladies soon warmed up with Sallie’s sweet potato and chilli soup!! Thank you Sallie and Murray, you did a wonderful job. Thank you also to my mum for her fruit cake and Mari for her strawberry sponge extravaganza!

As some of you already know, I have no talent in the kitchen, so my contribution to our fabulous lunch was to set out the tables and make everything look pretty. I laid out the knives and forks perfectly, forks on the left and knives on the right. OOPS! We’re having soup!!

Thank you to all that helped out on the day, especially Liz Jackson who is recovering from a long time of pain and treatment on her back. (You’re looking and doing fab Liz!) We are so happy to have her back amongst our ever growing group of wonderful ladies.

Back to the golf and the results. CONGRATULATIONS TO:

The winner of the day and receiving the trophy, JUDY GOWEN

In second place – Tracey Catling (winner last year)

In third place – Georgie Webb

Thank you all for participating and making the day so very special for me.  Jules x

Here are some photos of you all on the course. Enjoy!.
